Western Area Partnership Board
Stockton Residents & Community Groups Association facilitates the elections for the Western Area Partnership Board for the Community and Voluntary Sector (VCS) Groups.
The following places are available:
Voluntary Sector – 3 vacancies
Community Sector (including Faith & BME Groups) – 4 vacancies
Why these elections are important: The elections are important, as elected candidates represent the views of the VCS within the borough of Stockton on Tees. Enabling an in-put to the Boards so that services meet the needs of the people.
Please note that it is a requirement that your group discusses the elections, this would usually be done at a meeting but can be done via e-mail or telephoning.
If your group is not due to meet and minutes can not be provided, then please ask 2 members of your group to sign the nomination form to support the nominee.
Nominations will not be accepted without the supporting documents.

What will be expected of successful nominees: Meetings are held monthly. Agenda items are sent out 7 to 10 days beforehand. Papers can be lengthy, and it is estimated that they can take up to an hour to read. This time is necessary to have a good understanding of the key points.
To help representatives, pre-meetings can be held so that you can get the views of others who are attending meetings as well as having the opportunity to seek clarification on some of the agenda items beforehand.
Why should you get involved: The VCS needs strong representation if it is to have an impact in the Stockton area and make a valuable contribution to the decisions made by local government. The more people who become involved the more force we will have.
What are the benefits of getting involved: Apart from having the opportunity to influence the decision making process, you also receive training and support and a package of other benefits to help you deal with the tasks that your term in office may produce.
Nomination forms and associated documents must be returned by 4pm on Friday 8th July 2011
